What information will we collect from you?
When you set up an SIA online account, we ask you to give us some personal information. This will include your name, address, unique personal identification information, and contact details.
You can use your online account to submit licence applications and to contact us.
Why do we collect this information?
The SIA is a Home Office non-departmental public body. The information in your online account will be used by the SIA to carry out its statutory functions under the Private Security Industry Act 2001.
For example, we will use information we hold about you to:
o Create and maintain an SIA account in your name.
o Share information with organisations to conduct checks against the SIA licensing criteria.
o Contact you about:
- - your application
- - your licence
- - matters affecting the private security industry, for example, SIA events and recommended training
- - research regarding the private security industry
Who might we share information with?
o The SIA also shares and receives information with other government agencies in order to check the information we hold / they hold is accurate, to prevent or detect crime, or as otherwise allowed by law. For example, the information in this online account may be shared with agencies such as the Home Office, the Police, HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, HM Passport Office, Disclosure bodies and the National Crime Agency.
